Work Life Balance Resources
Work Life Balance Resources |
Perhaps the most difficult issue facing many working parents is that of their children, worries abound, should we let the children have a key, how long can we leave them alone, and at what age.
Sadly there is no right or wrong answer, my own particular view is that as a parent you will know your child, you will instinctively know how your child may or may not react to a certain situation, whenever I am asked this question by my wife, I reply almost always that our daughter is a sensible person so we should trust her.
That very rarely satisfies my wife who has a different set of beliefs and values, my wifes view is to always be there for her or at the very least she should be looked after by a relative.
This works for us, although as our daughter is only twelve at the moment we have yet to experience any real objections to this, however, just recently she asked if she could go to a friends house after school, we agreed but where shocked to find that her friends parents did not arrive home until just after five, with school finishing at 3.30 they were "Home Alone" for over an hour and a half.
This was a surprise, and no harm was done to our daughter, it does however, reflect the differences between parents.
Family Resources
As we are all thankfully different, no one piece of advice or one tip will work for everybody, with the exception of listening to your children, no matter how old they are, the remainder of this page will be dedicated to links to other sites which may offer you information relevant to your situation, so enabling you to make the best choice.
