Recommended Books - Work Life Balance
Occasionally you find yourself in a place where you do not wish to be, how do you get out of that place, reading is often a good way, especially if you find yourself saying "That's exactly how I feel" "I experienced that" "Now I know the "Voice" isn't me going slightly mad!!!"
There are two books which when I first read them the above questions and more of the same popped into my thoughts frequently, these two publications are highly recommended by Work Life Balance Tips, they are:-
The Inner Game of Work by Tim Gallwey
Both of these publications have had a huge impact on my life, especially The Inner Game of Work by Tim Gallwey.
In terms of readability and insight, this book is by far the most enlightening book I have ever read, in the field of self help, to change a persons views and beliefs is no mean feat
Which is what Tim managed in my case, after working for many years with a total belief that output, results and pure performance where the only real benchmark for success, Tim managed to highlight situations that were relevant to me.
The number one benefit I received from his book, which to some of you may seem odd, was the belief that work could indeed be enjoyable, fun and happiness were achievable.
Happy Hour is Nine to Five by Alexander Kjerulf
Happy Hour is nine to five, simply cemented my belief that happiness could be achieved at work, and that many people fail to realise this until it is perhaps too late.
Both books are superbly written and delivered in a non nonsense style that you actually feel as if the author is speaking directly to you
Take a positive step today and get your hands on either or preferably both of these amazingly insightful publications.

Human Traces - Sebastian Faulks
You may be wondering why this book is here on these pages, a novel by a well known and very successful author, being promoted on a web site about work life balance? you may well be thinking how strange, and at first glance I think I would agree, however, once you begin to read this book, you will not be able to put it down.

Human Traces examines the very nature of Humanity, relationships, friendships, loyalty, sorrow, sadness, delight, wonderment (is that a word?) all wrapped up in a story about the human mind...and the quest these two friends embark on to understand how the mind works...challenging our understanding of mental illness, has progress in psychiatry, psychology and therapy been made?
It is not for me to say..suffice to say that your beliefs, views opinions on these matters will be challenged.A quite extraordinary read, I challenge you not to be challenged by this superior novel and find yourself questioning your own views on Mental Health in the 21st Century.
